Voter Information and Registration

President Emeritus Freeman A. Hrabowski, III signed the Higher Education Presidents’ Commitment to Full Student Voter Participation, committing UMBC to a goal of full participation in elections by members of the campus community. To help us reach this goal, take a few minutes to register to vote in Maryland or any other state using these tools. You also can confirm your registration or update your address.

In Maryland:

In States Other than Maryland:

  • National Voter Registration Form (special rules apply for residents of New Hampshire, North Dakota, and Wyoming; be sure to check your state election websites, using the link immediately below).
  • Access all states’ election information here.
  • Find state-specific resources including important dates, registration deadlines, and elected officials here.

Mail-in Voting (i.e., Absentee Voting):

  • Learn about mail-in voting in Maryland and request a mail-in ballot here. In Maryland, you do not need any reason or excuse to request a mail-in ballot; you simply have to submit the request.
  • In other states, the rules vary regarding whether you need a reason or excuse to request a mail-in ballot. Find general information about mail-in voting in any state here.
  • For the 2022 gubernatorial election, there was an official ballot dropoff box located on the UMBC campus, in the lobby of The Commons next to the Campus Information Center (CIC). Maryland voters could cast their votes by placing completed mail-in ballots in the box (no postage stamp was required). We will update this site with information about the location of dropoff boxes for the 2024 presidential election.

Early Voting:

  • Many states make it possible to vote at a limited number of polling locations in the days before Election Day. Maryland is one of them.
